I just got back from a weeklong road trip to Washington, D.C. and New York City. The trip was fun, and I visited the typical landmarks, museums, and took in all the sights. One of the more interesting parts of the trip was listening to the people there. I’m talking about eavesdropping. You can’t help but overhear conversations that people have on their cell phones or while talking to others. As tourists, my family and I walked much slower than others in order to navigate and take in the sights. So when I did overhear people talking, it would always be mid-conversation. When only hearing small snipets of people’s conversations, it leaves room to the imagination as to what the conversation is about. I’ll leave you with some things I heard:
Yuppie-looking guy in suit talking to another yuppie-looking guy in suit:
“…well after you submit a formal proposal, the secretary needs to…”
Woman in suit talking to shorter woman in suit:
“…[angrily] How do you deconstruct her? Well, first of all, she’s really really smart…”
Woman on cell phone:
“…it was so appalling that I rescinded my membership…”
Guy on cellphone in the back of a passing taxi:
“…yeah, I think 2.5 million…”
